What can corrective exercise and personal training do for you?
Maybe you’d like to be more active but you get regular niggles and moving doesn’t feel as easy as it used to?
Maybe you’d like to improve your posture and have more energy?
Maybe you’d like to get fitter, faster, stronger – safely and effectively?
Maybe you’d just like to keep moving well for as long as possible?
Too often, we accept sore joints, stiff muscles, and injury as simply part of getting older, and think there’s nothing we can do. But our bodies are amazingly adaptable. Give them the right kind of training, and we can move better, perform better, and feel better, at any age.
About personal training with BlueSkyRunning
I take a different approach to personal training. As a corrective exercise specialist, my focus is helping you to learn how to improve how you move and feel better in your body, wherever you’re starting from.
I’m my own guinea pig when it comes to mindful movement. After decades as the archetypal ‘active sedentary’, struggling with chronic injury and poor posture, I feel stronger, healthier, and have more energy in my fifties than I did in my thirties.
As a client, I’ll work with you to set realistic goals that will keep you motivated, and I’ll help you every step of the way to achieving them.
Personal training starts with a detailed health and postural/movement assessment, to identify those “sticky spots” that may be holding you back.
From the assessment, I’ll design a progressive, integrated training programme, tailored to you.
Depending on your goals and what’s appropriate for you, the programme will help you:
- Release and lengthen chronically tight muscles, to help restore range of motion
- Activate weak and underused muscles to improve muscle balance and reduce the risk of injury
- Re-learn proper movement patterns through integrated, dynamic total body exercises that progressively develop neuromuscular control
- Build postural control, balance, stability, agility, strength and endurance using a combination of different types of training, such as BOSU, plyometric, speed/agility/quickness, core endurance, cardiovascular and resistance exercises.
Through regular assessments and goal reviews, we’ll keep your programme fresh and interesting, so you can continue to challenge yourself and develop your movement skills safely, effectively and enjoyably.
Whether you’re a runner or an athlete looking to get the edge in performance, or you simply want to improve your health and well-being, my aim is to give you the skills and knowledge you need to keep moving better and feeling better for as long as possible.
Not a fan of the gym? Don’t worry! We can train in your home, outdoors, or at one of my venues.
